White Oak Greenway
Saw many cool birds today:
2 female turkeys
eastern kingbird
prairie warbler
common yellow throat
white eyed vireo
least sandpiper
2 prothonotary warblers
3 wood ducks
beaver dam and lodge
Red Headed Woodpeckers
The Red Headed Woodpeckers arrived April 24th and have been as friendly to the other cavity nesters as they have ever been.
Chimney Swifts
Our swifts arrived April 22nd. We counted them last night and we have 4 adults (the pair and 2 helpers). The past few years we have always hosted 3.

Swift are here
Heard chimney swifts flying overhead today 4/14/14.
Last year they were in the neighborhood on 4/10/13.
Pine Pollen

Umstead State Park April 12, 2014
At the 2014 Run for Umstead we heard many Northern Parulas, Ovenbirds, and Gnatchatchers along the Reedy Creek trail. Dogwoods were in full bloom. Pine pollen was everwhere.
Bird News
Titmice are nest building in the peeker box.
FOY Ruby-throated Hummingbird arrived April 11th. Have not seen it since so it must have been passing through.
Gnatcatchers arrived in force April 9th.
Took the cap off the chimney April 12th, swifts should be back soon.
