Nest Boxes

The titmice have taken over nest box 1 and the flying squirrel nest box for the third year in a row!

Pond Frog

Pond Frog is back and sunning daily in the pond. Have seen it out for the last 2 weeks.

Spring Birds

Blue-gray Gnatcatchers showed up in the backyard on Wednesday 4/8.

Saw our male hummingbird at the feeder on Thursday 4/9.

First Chimney Swifts on Friday 4/10.

Upland Chorus Frogs

They are active and singing. First heard the at the American Tobacco Trail last week (1/1/15). Heard them again yesterday (1/7/15) in several places.

Snow Birds

Some of our winter birds have made it back the last few days. We have seen Yellow Bellied Sapsuckers, Yellow Rumped Warblers, and Ruby Crowned Kinglets.

Goodbye Swifts

The last few swifts that were still coming back to roost every night finally left on the 18th. We hope they have a safe trip to Peru and to see them next spring.

Cooper's Hawks in the greenway

This summer we had a family of Cooper's Hawks in the greenway. They had two fledglings that we saw a heard daily for several months. At least one of the family is still in the greenway, saw it yesterday on a bikeride.
